2020年8月に東京に着任し、在日フィンランド大使館で貿易・経済政策を担当する一等書記官として勤務。

ヘルシンキ大学で東アジア研究の文学修士号と社会政策の社会科学学士号を取得。2018年にフィンランド外交部に入局する以前は、在ヘルシンキ日本大使館で現地採用職員として、またヘルシンキ大学でリサーチアシスタントとして勤務。ロンドン在住経験もある。また東京に来る前は、外務省の東アジア局での勤務、欧州連合（EU）問題に携わる仕事にも従事。2013年から2014年にかけて交換留学生として京都に9カ月滞在。

Niina Väisänen works as the First Secretary responsible for Trade and Economic Policy at the Embassy of Finland in Japan. She arrived in Tokyo in August 2020. Before joining the Finnish Diplomatic Service in 2018, she worked as locally hired staff for the Embassy of Japan in Helsinki, and as a research assistant in University of Helsinki. She has also lived and worked in London. Before arriving to Tokyo, she worked with European Union issues and at the East Asia Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Niina Väisänen holds a Master of Arts Degree in East Asian Studies and a Bachelor of Social Sciences Degree in Social Policy, both from University of Helsinki. She spent nine months in Kyoto as an exchange student in 2013-2014.
